He married Ruth Cullimore in Weston-in-Gordano, Somerset, England, 22/04/1765. Ruth was born 14/05/1745. Ruth was the daughter of Samuel Cullimore and Ruth Thorn. Ruth died 16/01/1803 in Weston-in-Gordano, Somerset, England, at 57 years of age.

William Bessant and Ruth Cullimore had the following children:

7 vi. Daniel Bessant was born 1780. Daniel died 1862 at 82 years of age.

8 vii. James Bessant was born 1782. James died 1854 at 72 years of age.

9 viii. Joseph Bessant was born 1786. Joseph died 1821 at 35 years of age.
