Updated Dec 2005

horizontal rule

Welcome to my attempt at posting my Norman family tree. Most of the related families are from Somerset, Wiltshire and Berkshire. Villages on the Mendip Hills feature strongly, in particular Priddy, East Harptree, West Harptree, Compton Martin and Chewton Mendip.

Any information you may have regarding any of the families would be much appreciated. Likewise I am happy to share any information I have.

Introduction

These pages contain approximately 1400 individuals from families connected to our children, Archie, Joe and Vicky. The majority of the related families come from Somerset, Wiltshire and Berkshire. Most of the information is the result of people such as you recognising a link with their own family and passing on the information to me. Some parts of the tree have grown quite rapidly; some have hardly changed since I started in 1999. The closure of the mines in North Somerset forced many people to move to South Wales. Evidence of this can been seen in branches of the Speed and Weeks families.

The following towns and villages feature strongly:

SOMERSET   Cheddar, Compton Martin, Priddy, East Harptree, West Harptree, Chew Stoke, Chewton Mendip, Farrington Gurney, Wells.

WILTSHIRE   Christian Malford, Lacock, Corsham, Broad Hinton.

BERKSHIRE   Ashbury, Hinton Parva
